2 fired Chicago PD misconduct cops hired as private SRO cops in schools

The Chicago Public School system suspended 2 security guards in September of 2023 who had both been previously fired Chicago police officers with offenses serious enough to have been placed on the Do-Not-Hire list. After being fired, both went to work as private school security guards in SRO positions. Questions have been raised about the background checking before hiring of officers who allegedly serve to protect children.

One of the SROs had been terminated by the Chicago Police Department in 2019 for sexual misconduct with a minor. The other SRO was fired because of a serious prior domestic violence incident. Both had ended up working as private SROs in Chicago’s school system after that.

One of the officers, Darius Alexander, 50, was a CPD officer from 2006-2019. He was caught witnessing a drug transaction, arrested 2 males and took 2 females from the same incident and coerced one of the underage girls into contact, texting her, discussing anal sex and at the same time offering her help getting her mother’s car back. Investigators discovered 47 text messages from him to the underage girl the day after the drug arrest. The pressured girl secretly recorded the officer’s conversation. And then it took more than 6 years before the allegations reached the Police Board.

Aside from the allegations of sexual misconduct, former CPD officer Darius Alexander also has 5 misconduct complaints on record, 4 of which were excessive force violations, 1 of which was sustained.

He is no longer employed with any schools. No record can be found that he was ever charged for any of his crimes.

This is exactly why ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS. They do not hold them to account, they stick up for each other. This cop belongs in jail; firing was not a suitable response to his crime. Then he was HIRED AGAIN? Why are our laws so permissive, why is their training so poor and the standards so LOW? I’m certain I am not alone wanting cop world radically changed.
