11/7/23: Three laborers went to LAPD station, reported seeing bags full of human body parts to cops. LAPD sent them away and told them to call 911

Tarzana, CA, 11/07/2023: Four day laborers showed up at an LAPD police station to report that they had been hired to remove some “bags full of rocks” from a home in Tarzana. The workers were paid $500 to remove 3 large heavy trash bags. When they began loading the “rocks”, they noticed that the bags did not contain rocks but instead something soft and soggy. They opened a bag. A dismembered human body with other body parts were visible. A human belly button was seen in the bag.

The workers rushed to return the bags to the driveway, returned the $500 and left, driving straight to a police station where they reported the body parts that they had just seen in someone’s driveway. LAPD police turned them away and declined to investigate and told them to just call 911 instead. What should the dispatcher do when cops refuse to act on a very serious fresh homicide tip other than to route the same call back to the same cops who already refused it?

The next day, a headless female torso was found in the garbage in Encino, California. The torso was soon identified as Mei Haskell, 37, wife of a Hollywood mogul’s son, Samuel Haskell IV who had been reported missing by her husband. Two other people were also missing: Mei Haskell’s parents, Yanxiang Wang and Gaoshan Li. Their combined 2 vehicles also remain missing.

When the headless torso in the trash was identified as belonging to Mei Li Haskell, eventually police figured out that this torso went with the story the 4 workers whom they had previously dismissed when they tried to report the trash bags full of body parts. Unfortunately, the day laborers had put the bags back in the driveway from where they disappeared. Review of a neighbor’s security camera video showed the sequence the workers described from lifting the bags to apparently inspecting contents and multiple black trash bags seen in the driveway, as they had described.

The workers had been responsible community members who notified authorities of a driveway full of human body parts and handed it to police. Citizens are not trained how to secure evidence. That was the job of LAPD but when they reject a report, they have nothing to investigate.

LAPD apparently allowed the bags to disappear until apparently one of the bags materialized in a dumpster elsewhere later. The man presumed to have carried out the murders is Samuel Haskell IV, son of Hollywood mogul Sam Haskell. Did the fact that the man whom eyewitnesses identified to police as Haskell by address given to LAPD turned out to be the white and wealthy son of someone powerful in Hollywood?

Haskell is being held without bail at this time, awaiting arraignment. It is believed that he killed and dismembered all missing family members inside of the home according to evidence pointing toward this fact stated by police.

The above was sent from one of our mutuals. Five city blocks between the body parts and the police station. Police took a long time to respond. Details surrounding this and exact timeline to response time are currently unknown.

What are our police actually expected to do? We seem to have outsourced numerous private sector, mental health, schooling and property watching to them while the most needed policing such as solving serious crimes is the most neglected area. Solving homicides and serious crime has never been their forte. Despite all astronomical funding, only 50% of homicides are ever solved nationwide while shoplifters are chased diligently, people with weed and catalytic converter thieves have their own militarized tactile special ops cops assigned to them but the most serious crimes remain neglected.

While the unsolved homicides averaged out across all demographics currently stand at 50%, the most overpoliced and underserved ZIP codes such as specifically numerous black communities, stats have varied between 60-80% left unsolved in hardest hit metro areas over the years. are quoting data across several reports over showing unsolved homicides in cities in recent years while the numbers on unsolved white homicides is known to be around 28% despite the massive resources available points to how uncoincidentally broken the system is. More funding cannot fix the foundational systemic problems in policing as we know it.
Haskell was arrested one day later on 11/08/2023 for murder and is held with $2 million bail. This is an evolving story. Updates will be posted when they become available.
