California cops are not allowed to ask you if you know why they pulled you over. By a new law Jan. 1, 2024 ending pretextual traffic stop fishing expeditions by cops. Police officers are trained to obtain confessions, admissions and inconsistencies. If you are innocent, law enforcement can use inconsistencies in your statements as evidence of guilt.

BILL 2773

California cops as of next week must state the reason why they stopped you per Assembly Bill No. 2773, passed on September 29, 2022, going into effect January 1, 2024.

They are specifically prohibited from stopping people and asking “Do you know why I stopped you?” This simple question easily leads to entrapment. California did away with it. Cops have to report all their traffic stops to the Attorney General now, burying Bonta under several million new reports annually and allegedly holding cops accountable for inappropriate traffic stops above and beyond what is needed.

California admitted to 3.1 million annual traffic stops in recent years. A total of 15% of them were on black people who otherwise make up only 6% of California’s population per the Racial and Identity Profiling Board.

The question: “Do you know why I pulled you over?” is redundant and In any type of police traffic stop, cops are legally required to have probable cause to pull you over. The fishing expeditions during profiling stops are supposed to end in California.

REMEMBER THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TALK TO POLICE

You do not have to talk to cops. You have to cooperate with reasonable commands but are not required to chat with them. Anything you say to police may be used against you. So why answer any questions or be provoked into any response?

DON’T TALK TO THE POLICE

You don’t have to talk to cops. You can safely follow their directions without conversation if a cop approaches you for any reason. And if you are in California, you don’t have to put up with pretextual traffic stops with entrapment questions anymore.

Why You Should NEVER Talk to the Police. Period.
