On April 4, 2015, Walter Scott was stopped for a broken tail light and killed by Officer Michael Thomas Slager who had been investigated for abuse of his taser on someone else prior to killing Scott. Scott had taken the taser from him during the attack and ran away with it. Officer Slager claimed he “feared for his life” when the man ran away from him and he killed Scott.
