OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Trooper Enrique Delgado Garcia of the Massachusetts state police died during a training exercise on September 13, 2024 at the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree. He suffered a broken neck, missing teeth and severe head trauma. Police explained that this occurred during a "boxing exercise." It is still unknown who inflicted these injuries on him during training.
Worcester County Attorney Early recused himself from handling the case and stated that he does not know yet who will do so.
Fred Taylor, head of the Worcester NAACP, urged the media to look into the training exercises of MSP.
After Delgado-Garcia's death, a Haitian trainee of the same MSP came forward and outlined his personal ordeal with racist hazing during training in which he was singled out to crawl on the floor and mop it with his clothing and body and other forms of humiliation. Articles linked below.
