On 11/08/2025 deputies responded to a disturbance involving Michael Duarte, a 39 year old California based food influencer known for his cooking personality. Family members reported he was acting erratically and holding a knife. Deputies confronted Duarte outside the home and gave repeated commands to drop the knife. He moved toward the deputy while still armed and the deputy opened fire. Duarte was transported to a hospital where he died. Relatives described him as creative and deeply loved and said he had been struggling in the moments leading up to the shooting.
