OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/23/2025, Delaware State Police trooper Matthew “Ty” Snook was killed during an active-shooter incident at a Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles facility in New Castle. Snook was working an overtime assignment at the DMV when a 44-year-old man entered the office and opened fire. Snook pushed a nearby employee to safety but was struck by gunfire and later died from his injuries at a hospital. Another trooper and a civilian sustained minor, non-gunshot-related injuries. A New Castle County police officer confronted and shot the suspect, who also died from his wounds. The incident is under investigation by state authorities.
