On 03/10/2025, George Ramirez, a 36-year-old sergeant with the Kentucky Department of Corrections, was killed in the line of duty when the vehicle he was driving crashed while he was en route from the Kentucky State Reformatory in La Grange to guard an inmate at a hospital in Louisville. Ramirez had served with the Kentucky Department of Corrections for seven years and was described by the department as a dedicated officer committed to the safety of both inmates and the community.
