On 05/25/2024, Detective Marc F. Lotter, 58, a retired member of the New York City Police Department who served for 24 years including in the Firearms Analysis Section, died at his home in New Windsor, New York after a battle with cancer caused by his exposure during rescue and recovery operations at the World Trade Center following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. His death is attributed to a job related illness stemming from that exposure. He retired from the NYPD on August 31, 2016. There was no weapon involved and this was not the result of a police encounter. Body-worn or dash camera footage does not apply.
