On 02/07/2024, retired New York State Police Trooper Steven A. Tyrrell died after a battle with Stage IV pancreatic cancer attributed to his assignment to search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Tyrrell entered the NYSP in October 1997 and served 26 years, spending most of his career assigned to Troop T in the Henrietta area.
