On 01/27/2024, Sergeant Michael “Zini” Kurinzi, age 51, died at his home in Elizabeth, New Jersey after a battle with cancer attributed to his assignment to search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Kurinzi was a United States Marine Corps veteran and served with the Elizabeth Police Department for approximately 20 years. Obituary records note he passed peacefully at home with his family.
