OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/11/2023, Deputy Joshua A LaFarge of the Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded to investigate a vehicle along State Highway 11 in Kansasville. During the encounter, a man exited the vehicle and fired multiple rounds, striking Deputy LaFarge. Deputies returned fire and killed the gunman. LaFarge was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. He had served with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office since 2018 and previously worked with the Caledonia Police Department. He is survived by his wife and children.
