OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/04/2023, Police Officer Adeed Fayaz of the New York City Police Department met a man in the driveway of a residence at 115-57 148th Street in Jamaica to purchase a vehicle he had arranged to buy through social media. During the meeting, the man attempted to rob him and fired multiple rounds, striking Fayaz in the head. Fayaz was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition. He died from his injuries on 02/07/2023. Investigators identified and arrested Randy Jones in connection with the shooting. Fayaz had served with the NYPD for five years and was assigned to the 66th Precinct in Brooklyn. He is survived by his wife, who was pregnant at the time of his death.
