On 06/23/2022, Henry County Police Officer Sean Free was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 in McDonough, Georgia. Authorities reported that during the stop, a man inside the vehicle opened fire, striking Free. Responding officers located him with critical injuries and transported him for medical treatment, where he later died. Free had served with the Henry County Police Department and was 41 years old at the time of his death.
