On 11/04/2021, Kingsville Police Senior Patrolman Sherman Otto Benys Jr. died from gunshot wounds sustained three days earlier while responding to a domestic disturbance call in the 300 block of South Wanda Drive in Kingsville. He was shot during the response and transported to a Corpus Christi hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
