OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/13/2026, a deputy U.S. Marshal assigned to the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force was fatally shot while serving an arrest warrant for a wanted fugitive in the Rutland Road area of Alexandria, Louisiana. Members of the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office were assisting in the operation when gunfire erupted. Following a lengthy standoff, the suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital with injuries. The FBI, Louisiana State Police, and other agencies are investigating the shooting. Authorities have not yet released the deputy's identity pending family notification.
