OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/15/2021, Police Officer Christopher William Cummins contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty while serving with the Bella Vista Police Department. He was hospitalized at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville and remained on a ventilator for more than a month before dying from complications of the illness on 10/23/2021. Cummins had served with the Bella Vista Police Department for approximately 18 months and had served in law enforcement for a total of 12 years, including prior service with the Kellyville Police Department in Oklahoma and the Parsons Police Department in Kansas. He was a member of the department's SWAT team and is survived by his son, two daughters, parents, and fiancée.
