OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/27/2021, Sergeant Michael David Dunn contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty while serving with the Amarillo Police Department. He died from complications of the illness on 10/22/2021. Dunn was a United States Marine Corps veteran who served during the Gulf War and Operation Restore Hope in Somalia before beginning his law enforcement career. He served with the Amarillo Police Department for more than 21 years and was a firearms instructor with specialized training in narcotics, SWAT, and interview and interrogation. He is survived by his wife and four children.
