On 08/11/2021, Investigator Tracy Joe Dotson contracted COVID-19 while attending a training conference at 308 South Washington Street in Fredericksburg. He died from complications of the illness on 10/19/2021. Dotson was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He had served with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office for 19 years after previously serving four years with the Grand Prairie Police Department, for a total of 23 years in law enforcement. He also served as a Special Deputy with the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and one daughter.
