On 10/04/2021, Police Officer Andrew Robert MacDonald contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty while serving with the Grand Prairie Police Department. He died from complications of the illness on 10/18/2021. MacDonald had served with the Grand Prairie Police Department for 22 years after joining the agency in 1999. During his career he served in Patrol, the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, and most recently in the Community Services Division. He is survived by his wife, father, and three brothers.
