The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department initially responded to a vehicle pursuit in Grant County that began in Dubuque, Iowa. A Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy deployed a spike strip and then shot at a vehicle. The vehicle later crashed in Green County, where the driver fled the scene on foot from police. He committed suicide under police duress near State Highway 11 with police chasing him. Police did not publicly identify him. No video or eyewitness accounts can be found to corroborate the police narrative of events.
