Dane County deputies received a 911 call about a man with a weapon on Jefferson Street at about 11 a.m. Several local agencies began searching the area for a man who was alleged to have been seen with a weapon several times. Police located him and he fled on foot. At approximately 3:15 p.m., a deputy with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office found the man and fired shots at him for unknown reasons. Jose C. Jimenez died at the scene. Police believe he had been responsible for some armed robberies in the past but they never explained what danger he presented to police causing the fatal shooting.
