Open Records Summary :
Benton County deputies responded to a caller who said they had heard gunfire on Nelson Amos’ property. Police found him driving a tractor and holding a weapon. He explained to police that he had some trespassers regularly on his property and that he is patrolling to scare them off. The deputy strikes a threatening tone following which Amos is heard saying “Fuck you!” to him, turns away and gets back on his tractor. The deputy called for backup and he is next seen together with another deputy with a long rifle aiming at Amos on the tractor. Deputies had alleged that he had pointed a pistol at them. This is not seen anywhere on the bodycam and seconds before his death, Amos continued yelling at police to just go away and leave him alone. He never displayed aggression toward police. They shot and killed him on his tractor on his property.
