Phoenix PD responded to reports of a shooting at the Days Inn near 26th Avenue and Deer Valley Road. Police say 24-year-old Isaiah Steven Williams, who was wearing full tactical gear, including a vest and a helmet, seemed to be experiencing some type of psychotic break and walked out of the motel and began shooting randomly. At one point, he tried to throw a Molotov cocktail at a nearby Waffle House.
As Williams continued shooting, 36-year-old Misael Arevalo and 44-year-old Karla Garzona pulled into the parking lot and were shot and killed. Five more people were injured.
Williams reportedly opened fire on several patrol vehicles. Two officers were injured after one was struck by a bullet in the shoulder and another was hit by shrapnel. Police found him dead in the parking lot and claim that he committed suicide under police duress.
