The Newaygo County undersheriff received a “shots fired” call on August 29, 2022. Undersheriff Chad Palmiter heard the call and spotted a Dodge Charger matching the description of one involved in the shooting headed east on E. Baseline Road. He tried to pulled it over, the sheriff’s office said, but the driver didn’t stop. Palmiter escalated a chase. The driver lost control and left the road on E. Baseline near S. Oak Avenue and hit a tree.The driver died at the scene. Their name wasn’t released.
