The victim was inside a vehicle with two men - one of whom was an off-duty contracted reserve police officer while one of them was a bail enforcement agent. Both officers were handling a gun. The men later reported that the gun accidentally discharged and killed Lorena Suarez. Suarez did call 911 moments after the shooting and describe the shooting as an accident. She died from her wound soon after. Police did not say which of the officers had killed her.
