Montgomery police officers who were searching for a wanted person spotted two males standing at the passenger’s side of an SUV at the Express Inn East hotel conducting a small drug deal.
Two males got into a Nissan Altima with a paper tag. Officers activated their lights and sirens and the Altima sped up.
Police escalated a chase to 90 to 100 mph at what point police claim that they “called off the chase” just as the vehicle was about to crash. The car had crashed in the 5800 block of Vaughn Road near Young Meadows Road.
Simmons was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead.
Records state that they found a rifle next to Brown’s leg and marijuana in Simmons’ pocket.
