Patrick Lyoya was traffic-stopped by Grand Rapids Officer Christopher Schurr. The officer claimed that he had a “unlicensed vehicle.” Patrick Lyoya allegedly ran from the traffic stop and the officer engaged him in a fight. Schurr finally shot and killed the unarmed man. Officer Schurr was later charged with second-degree murder and at this time, he is awaiting trial.
