John Raymond Fauver, a suicidal man, was holding a cane when he got out of the truck and pointed the cane at deputies. "It's a cane! It's a cane! It's a cane!" one deputy called to other officers who all pointed their guns and fired, killing the unarmed man. Police said he had a shotgun in his vehicle and it is not clear why this was brought up because Fauver never tried to use a weapon and it is legal to have shotguns in cars.
