The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department was called because someone was slashing tires at a Calimesa business. A deputy from the Cabazon station located Marquez walking down the Eastbound 10 Freeway onramp while an off-duty San Bernardino police officer on the way to work saw the confrontation and stopped to assist.When Marquez still continued his advances, the deputy tasered, then shot him dead.
