Britney Griffin and Ky’Air Lucus, age 1, were killed Friday after a police chase caused a crash on I-80 in Gary, Indiana. Police allege that another car was speeding and weaving in between lanes when he lost control, hit a semi, spun across all lanes and collided with another tractor trailer around 11:32 a.m. in the westbound lanes near mile marker 5.7. The impact of the crash ejected a 20-year-old woman who was riding in the front passenger seat and she and an infant in a car seat were both pronounced dead on the scene.
Lake County sheriff's deputies state the reason for the chase was that they had tried to stop the car for speeding in downtown Gary.
