Warren PD spotted three Dodge Chargers speeding in Warren and escalated a chase after two of the vehicles that ended when a Dodge Charger collided with a Jeep Cherokee driven by a bystander. The 42-year-old female passenger in the Jeep was a single mother on her way home. She was killed.

A St. Louis Airport PD officer who was off-duty witnessed a fight between two women. One of the women took out a pistol and shot the 23-year-old woman in the leg. The shot woman’s boyfriend, an officer, then shot and killed the shooter.

John Neibuhr was at Orlando Airport and allegedly tried to make it on a plane. Airline personnel sent him away and police followed him outside to a hotel parking lot where they found him in his car. Police state they saw a gun in the car and shot and killed him. A dog was also with him in the car and was not harmed.

A Manchester officer on foot approached a man and asked to speak with him. Police did not state why they stopped the man. A special Crime Prevention Unit of Utica PD conducted a traffic stop. Several teens ran from a vehicle. Police ran after him on foot and shot and killed a 13-year-old boy, stating he had something in his hand that looked like a gun. Bystander video appeared on social media showing several officers running after him, knocking him to the ground, pinning him and with 2 officers on top of him, a third one shot and killed the child. he had been a local middle schooler. Police initially stated that he had been armed. This turned out to be a plastic Glock 17 replica.

On 06/29/2024: Utica PD released the following:

"On June 28th, 2024 at approximately 10:18PM Utica Police officers assigned to the Crime Prevention Unit conducted a stop of two males on the 900 block of Shaw St regarding a Police investigation.

"During the course of the stop one of the juveniles fled from the officers. As the juvenile fled, what appeared to be a handgun was pointed at the officers, and one Utica Police Officer discharged one round from his firearm striking the male. Officers recovered a replica GLOCK 17 Gen 5 handgun with a detachable magazine following the shooting. Photos of the weapon will be disseminated.

"The 13-year-old Asian male juvenile was transported to Wynn Hospital where he sadly succumbed to his wounds. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased juvenile, as well as our officers involved in this incident. We will not be releasing the names of our officers involved or the deceased party at this time, until all next of kin notifications can be made.

"As always, we are committed to transparency and earning the public’s trust in our investigations. As much information as allowable will be released during this process. However, in instances of officer involved shootings New York State Executive Law 70b mandates that the New York State Attorney General Office of Special Investigations has the lead criminal investigatory role. The Utica Police Department is conducting a joint parallel internal investigation with our Professional Standards Unit to determine if policies, procedures, and training were followed.

"Additionally, we will work closely and openly with the City of Utica Public Safety Advisory Committee. We value their mission and want to ensure through multiple facets the community is fully informed of the facts of this incident.

"Over the next several days we will be releasing multiple media formats publicly. We will release a Critical Incident Brief which will be a comprehensive overview of the events in their entirety. Additionally, we will release the full Body Worn Camera content of the involved officers. We are aware of a video of the incident circulating on social media platforms, which does not portray the incident in its entirety; we ask that the public obtains all of the information that will be made available when reviewing this tragic incident." 

On 07/01/2024, police released some edited BWC footage which showed portions of the event. Police identified to Mway that they were pedestrian-stopping them for jaywalking. Mway sounds apologetic and cooperative. Police then demanded to pat him down and he ran from them. While 2 officers were on top of him during the shooting and should have had a very clear view of him, this footage was not provided. Police finally admitted that he had been unarmed and had only a plastic replica gun but maintained that he still had this replica in his hand when killed while all footage that should exist showing him at the time of the shooting had been omitted from the publication of the BWC that is linked in the source links below.

A 911 caller reported that a female had been stabbed multiple time in the 3300 block of Park Crest Lane on the west side of Cincinnati. Police broadcast a description of the attacker who was fleeing by vehicle. Police caught up with him near Warsaw and Enright and tried to traffic-stop him. The man pointed a handgun several times. Steven Jeffrey O’Shields was wanted in North Carolina for child sex crimes and was seen in Kalispell, Montana. Flathead County deputies chased him until he fled into a river in Kalispell. He was found drowned later.

Otero County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Diaz-Austin
drove patrol late at night on June 25, 2024 on US Highway 70 after a call by a person who had driven past a boy walking in the dark and worried about his safety. The deputy spotted 17-year-old Elijah Hadley walking on the shoulder. The deputy stopped and drove toward him, yelling to show his hands. Hadley complied and tossed an object away from himself onto the ground. The officer fired 4 bullets into him. Hadley fell down to the ground and was lying in his own blood, screaming in pain and rolled over, asking the officer whether he would kill him. The officer fired another 15 bullets directly into him lying on the ground, killing him. This is a summary of the released bodycam footage.

Elijah Hadley had been on foot at the Mescalero Apache Reservation walking to his mother’s house. The object in his hand turned out to be a plastic airsoft replica. Police had initially claimed that he was armed and pointed a pistol at them. This is proven false by the bodycam which shows him tossing an object, which falls with the velocity of a very light-weight item, not consistent with a gun. He is seen tossing the object away from himself when ordered to show his hands.

Hadley fell down clutching his stomach and yelled “it is just a BB gun.” When he was lying on the ground, unarmed and severely injured, it is unclear why the officer snapped during a verbal exchange with him and fired 15 more bullets into his body. He was found to have been hit by a total of 19 bullets on autopsy. The deputy did not render aid or help him and watched him die for several minutes.

The family, as well as the public were told that he had pointed a gun at the deputy, which is inconsistent with the bodycam footage.

Three months after the killing, the officer has not been charged and the local population, particularly the Native American community, has been vocally protesting in nearby Alamogordo.

Three months after the killing, it is known only that the deputy had been on paid administrative leave but the sheriff’s office refused to answer whether the deputy is still on paid leave or back on patrol.
