The HEAT Team (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) consisting of CHP and Fresno County sheriffs in a combined task force to stop vehicle theft investigated a stolen truck and found Angel Rojas sitting in the driver seat. Police approached him and state that he put the vehicle in reverse and hit two unmarked patrol cars which had flashing police lights. Police shot and killed him.
