A man allegedly drove down Highway 36 near Westminster, saw a Colorado state patrol trooper on the side of the highway doing paperwork, fired several shots, then got out of his pick up truck and continued shooting. Trooper Simcox grabbed his rifle and fired back, killing the man. The trooper was shot in the arm and is in stable condition.
