Tipton county deputies allegedly tried to traffic stop Ricky Reed, but he did not stop. Escalated a chase and he fled to his home. He locked himself in. Police brought SWAT and made forcible entry into the home where they shot and killed him, stating that he had made a sudden movement. Police did not say whether he had been armed or not. Reed had had a number of serious run-ins with Covington police over decades and was known to them when they tried to traffic-stop him and pursued him to his house with SWAT.
