Stanton County deputies were sent to a location where an altercation had taken place. A juvenile who had been involved in the confrontation that had ended when police arrived emerged from a trailer home while the alleged assailant, Ricky Thompson, 45, was locked inside. Stanton County deputies, Grant County deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol Special Response Team escalated a SWAT standoff and breached the home with armored vehicles, sent in drones and fired less-lethal munitions until the man committed suicide under police duress.
