A Minnesota State trooper crossed an intersection and slammed into several other vehicles including a vehicle in which Olivia Flores was a passenger, killing her.

Trooper Shane Roper was driving at 83 mph when he T-boned her car, killing her. The trooper was chasing a petty traffic offender and had no reason to speed. He also reportedly did not utilize lights or sirens while racing around. This is the fourth major traffic crash caused by Trooper Roper in 8 years.

Officer Roper in July of 2024 was charged with 2nd-degree manslaughter, five counts of criminal vehicular operation, and one count each for reckless driving and careless driving in the death of Flores and awaits a jury trial in spring of 2025. Minnesota State Patrol called his actions "reckless" and demonstrated a “clear violation” of MSP’s policies.
