Police received a call about someone firing an “AR-style rifle” on South Drive. They responded, found a man who locked himself into a residence in the 2100 block of South Drive. Pueblo PD called SWAT and a militarized standoff was escalated by police to pressure the man inside. SWAT engaged in a back and forth shootout with him. During the lengthy standoff, police deployed drones and finally entered the residence. They found the man dead from gunshot wounds. Police declined to say whether they shot him.
Eyewitnesses describe the victim as a "kid." His name, age and identity have not been released so far. 07/31/2024
