Deer Park Police Department was called for a man who had been acting erratically, banging on car windows, kicking them. He was seen holding knives. When police arrived, he was lying in the middle of the intersection. Police fired tasers at him, which seemed to upset him, and he allegedly charged at the police who shot and killed him. His family said he had known mental health issues but “there is a better way” to handle mental health crises. The family feels the system failed the family.
