Sacramento PD were called to a welfare check on a 51-year-old man who was intoxicated. Police said he held a knife and threw it when police arrived, then locked himself into a vehicle. Police somehow extricated him from the vehicle, subjecte3d him to a harsh physical arrest by multiple officers, placed him in handcuffs and in the back of a police car. He was found dead sitting in the car from unknown causes. Police speculated that it may be drug-related. The temperatures in Sacramento on the afternoon of 7/24/2024 were above 90 degrees and the man had spent an unknown length of time first locked in his own vehicle, then the back of a patrol car. He was found prone slumped over in a police vehicle. It is unknown how long he had been prone.
