On 02/01/2026, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Nexton Parkway in Summerville. The driver did not stop. Police chased him northbound on Nexton Parkway before terminating the pursuit for safety reasons. The driver continued traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control near Bobcat Drive. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed. A 21-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the location. Authorities withheld his identity pending notification of next of kin.
