OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/01/2026 at approximately 3:00 a.m., San Jose Police Department officers located a gray 2013 Infiniti EX37 sedan reported as a stolen vehicle traveling northbound near Winchester Boulevard and Moorpark Avenue. Officers attempted to initiate a vehicle enforcement stop, but the driver did not stop and turned eastbound onto Moorpark Avenue, fleeing at a high rate of speed. San Jose Police Department claimed that officers did not pursue the vehicle. The vehicle continued east on Moorpark Avenue and, shortly after passing Monroe Street, lost control and struck a cement wall near the Highway 17 overpass. Officers observed the crash and responded to render aid. The driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The incident was identified by San Jose Police Department as the third fatal collision and traffic death in the city for 2026. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the stolen vehicle and crash.
