On 02/03/2026 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a Shreveport Police Department patrol unit was responding to a call for service when a 75-year-old woman, identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office as Evelyn Alexander, entered the roadway in the 3700 block of Greenwood Road and was struck by the police vehicle. Police reported the patrol unit was not using emergency lights or siren at the time of the collision. Medical personnel transported Alexander, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The involved officer has been placed on administrative leave and the SPD Crash Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation into the incident. SPD officials stated no immediate indications of wrongdoing and crash investigators are gathering additional information to determine circumstances surrounding the traffic collision.
