OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/04/2026, Tooele City Police Department officers followed up on a shooting reported the prior night outside the Quality Quik Stop at 188 N. Broadway, where a man in his 40s was shot multiple times and taken to a hospital. Police identified Jason Todd Shaw, 43, as a person of interest in that shooting and said officers encountered him during the follow up effort near Main Street and 1000 North. Police said Shaw presented a firearm during the encounter. Officers opened fire and killed him. Police said it was not immediately clear whether Shaw fired a shot. Utah Department of Public Safety State Bureau of Investigation agents took over the investigation of the police shooting.
