On 02/03/2026, Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies located 47-year-old Jason Eric Holton traveling on Interstate 75 near Paynes Prairie. Law enforcement identified Holton as a person of interest connected to a double homicide in Union County. Troopers initiated a stop and shut down southbound lanes of I-75. Officers positioned patrol vehicles to contain Holton’s vehicle and issued verbal commands. Authorities reported Holton remained inside the vehicle with a firearm.
