On 02/05/2026, Nash County deputies responded around 9:20 p.m. to a domestic violence call at a home on Tom George Road where a caller reported a man holding a knife to a woman and possessing loaded firearms. Deputies surrounded the residence and the man later exited with a rifle and approached officers. A sheriff’s office sniper fired, striking him. Christopher Erb died from his injuries. Reporting described him as a father of two children and a friend said he cared deeply for his family.
