On 02/05/2026, a multi-parish law enforcement pursuit involving officers from Louisiana State Police and other agencies traveled through Beauregard, Calcasieu, and into Cameron Parish on a morning highway chase. The vehicle was the sole occupant’s, and following the pursuit, the driver stopped near Parish Line Road at about 10 a.m. According to authorities, the driver shot themselves while officers were present. Emergency responders transported the driver to a hospital with serious injuries, and the death was later confirmed. Louisiana State Police detectives were assigned to investigate the shooting incident.
