OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/04/2026, deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “shots fired” call and an involuntary mental health commitment order at a residence on Court Street in the Brighton Village mobile home community in Genoa Township. Deputies heard gunfire from inside and crisis negotiators attempted contact with the occupant, believed to be in a mental health crisis. After several hours, law enforcement breached a window and first responders located the man inside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound; he was later pronounced deceased. Multiple police agencies assisted during the response.
