OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/06/2026, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a hit and run collision at Esplanade Avenue and San Jacinto Avenue, identified the driver involved, and searched nearby streets after he left the crash. Deputies located him in the 2000 block of San Jacinto Avenue and moved to detain him, and during the contact he displayed a firearm and deputies opened fire and killed him. The other driver involved in the collision was transported to a hospital in stable condition, and the Sheriff’s Force Investigation Detail assumed the shooting investigation.
