On 02/06/2026, Fairfax County Police Department officers were positioned at a red traffic signal with multiple vehicles stopped in the eastbound lanes of Braddock Road when Dariush Bakhtiani drove a Toyota Camry eastbound and struck the rear of the police cruiser, initiating a four vehicle collision that pushed the cruiser into the cars ahead. Emergency personnel transported Bakhtiani from the scene where he later died.
